January 4

"Laughter can conceal a heavy heart,
but when the laughter ends, the grief remains."

—Proverbs 14:1

No doubt there are people in your world who are experiencing the truth of this proverb. Always remember that there's more to people than their surface behavior shows. Perhaps this verse describes you as well right now. What can you do to lift the grief of someone else? Pray, certainly. Perhaps send a card or some other expression of your care. Even if your own heart is also heavy, reaching out to others can help your grief, too.
